i'd like to point out that blue bird mercedes buses also exist in africa, just without warning lights Looking at that more closely.... this is a very interesting bus. I'm wondering if this is a Blue Bird body that began life on another chassis and was grafted onto the Mercedes truck chassis (the "short-hood" Mercedes trucks are nearly indestructible). It would be really different if this had started out as a TC/2000 or All American. 😲 The left-side door isn't a service door, but is for the driver. (a little high to get into...)

For some weird reason, a type d was given a left service door. Another shot of the vehicle in traffic:

I designed the electrical portion left side entrance door on all models for Thomas Bus. That's really cool! Any more detail on your work and did you work on any other projects for Thomas?

I designed the electrical portion left side entrance door on all models for Thomas Bus. That's nice. You work on Thomas buses. My school district used to have Thomas SAF-T-Liner ERs, Thomas SAF-T-Liner MVP ERs, and Thomas SAF-T-Liner MVP EFs, but we now have some Thomas SAF-T-Liner C2 Jouleys.

I saw this on Flickr and thought I'd share. Here is a school bus from the Cayman Islands that has a left side service door. These aren't very common and mostly seen on buses operating in NYC. Has anyone else seen these outside of New York? Bus scolaire (Grand Cayman) by Jean Martin Schlegel, on Flickr How come certain school buses in New York City have the service door on the left side instead of the normal right side?

How come certain school buses in New York City have the service door on the left side instead of the normal right side? Because of one way streets. It's always safer when students don't have to walk through traffic.
