I saw this on Flickr and thought I'd share. Here is a school bus from the Cayman Islands that has a left side service door. These aren't very common and mostly seen on buses operating in NYC. Has anyone else seen these outside of New York? Bus scolaire (Grand Cayman) by Jean Martin Schlegel, on Flickr

I've certainly never seen one in my travels, and I've never seen one in pictures that also had low headroom.

The Cayman Islands is a locality that drives on the left, which places the curb on that side. From what I can tell, the entry door was converted to left-side entry, but the bus remains LHD (the "American" side). It must be interesting managing it on streets where it is on the "wrong" side of the road.

Oh wow you're right, I just noticed the door is gone on the other side!

Oh wow you're right, I just noticed the door is gone on the other side! I saw that when I was writing the post (making me rewrite it ). Someone must have spent a lot of time in the shop making this conversion after shipping the bus to the islands.

This is what they look like when they leave the factory with the door on the "wrong" side. Q275LBA by Ian, on Flickr
